The Last of Boracay

Hoy en dia, I don’t take too many photos. I gave up the freelancing lifestyle and put my focus on large scale video production. This required me to learn different sets of skills and put aside other activities. Photography being one of them. Dale.
I was still able to make time for photography on my travels. But even that has fallen off as my desire to do more cinematography has left my Nikon camera gathering dust by the season. And now the desire to make a short film has me all in on the moving image. But still.
I would never call myself a professional photographer. It paid the rent a couple of times, but it was never a path that opened doors. Strange that it receives the most compliments out of all my work. But I know professional photographers, and they are many skills ahead of my abilities. Stranger that I only picked up the camera to photograph my journey into Japan. Along the way, the desire to photograph combat sports sparked a desire to get good at it. Bueno.
One thing lead to another and the next thing I am in video production. It must have been inevitable as the last 15 years brought several detours, obstacles, and paths that made me pivot towards film. Still.
There are thousands of pictures loaded on my drives and they will never see the edit of the day. There are a series of folders I don’t have time to organize. However, one picture and a few words might be the break I need from time to tiempo.

It is very rare for me to get a stunning photo out of a GoPro. I recently sold the old sports cam. This image made me realize we had a good run from the beaches of Boracay to el malecón de La Habana.
